Chicago the Musical
It’s always good to go to live shows, it’s even better when it’s a musical in London. There were plenty of choices but the winner was the one with the closest theatre, Chicago.
It was playing in Cambridge Theater and the ticket price was GBP 41.
Well, the theater was old and classic which went well with the story line given that it’s ancient in a way. The live music, the lighting blended well with the tale of murder, corruption and adultery.
However, having watched the movie, I couldn’t stop comparing both performances which I must admit wasn’t fair for the play since the movie tops it big time! Oh but let us not forget the guy dancers or shall I say gay dancers:) Their flexibility was unbelievable, it’s like watching man shaped snakes dance! but I guess that’s how they should be!
Now don’t get me wrong, I had a great deal of fun and I enjoyed watching it.
But a piece of advice for those who’ve watched the movie, don’t go!
Plot> Murderesses Velma Kelly (a chanteuse and tease who killed her husband and sister after finding them in bed together) and Roxie Hart (who killed her boyfriend when she discovered he wasn’t going to make her a star) find themselves on death row together and fight for the fame that will keep them from the gallows in 1920s Chicago.
